Machinist
Dingwell’s Global (Dingwell’s Machinery & Supply Limited) is currently taking applications for a skilled Machinist for our Thunder Bay, ON manufacturing facility. Qualified candidate must have a minimum of five (5) years in the machining trade and be able to operate machine tools in a productive and safe manner.
Plan machining by studying work orders, blueprints, samples, engineering plans, materials, specifications, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters.

Set-up, adjust and operate a variety of machine tools within a department.

Adjusts tools and replace as necessary.

Follow set-up procedures and recommend improvements.

Read and understand layouts, job packets and blueprints for the parts being run.

Perform quality checks on parts with the use of a variety of inspection equipment.

Maintain a clean, safe work area.

Produce parts that meet our quality requirements at the lowest cost, in a timely manner, while minimizing waste of materials and resources.

Assist in process development with engineers, quality technicians and supervisors.

Perform daily maintenance of machines as required and keep supervisor informed of necessary maintenance beyond operator assigned maintenance.

Work as a team member to aid all shifts and support personnel to operate to departmental standards including quality and productivity goals.
Required Skills:
-
Proven experience as a machinist.
-
Experience in using and/or programming manual, semi-automated or automated tools and machines.

Good at math with analytical abilities.

Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
-
Ability to plan effectively and execute the plans.
-
Strong mechanical aptitude and an eye for detail.

Demonstrated ability to read and understand operational layouts as required.

Understand tooling requirements to set-up and operate machines in the department.

Ability to perform a sequence of operations under minimum supervision and consistently maintain the performance level set for quality and quantity.
Preferred Skills:
-
Possess a valid Ontario Machinist Certificate.
